A Weekend Away

Last weekend was so much fun. I had really been looking forward to it all of last week.

We also had an unexpected guest join us - Clifford the Big Red Dog!

Each Friday in Sawyer and Sage's Kindergarten class, their teacher draws a name out of a basket to see who gets to take Clifford home for the weekend. The whole weekend, they get to have fun adventures with Clifford and can take pictures and record it in his book. Then on Monday, Clifford and his adventure book go back to school and their teacher reads about all the fun adventures he had with the student over the weekend.

Last Friday, Sawyer's name was drawn to bring Clifford home. It was the perfect weekend, because it meant Clifford got to come to Medford with us and stay in our hotel for a night.

Sawyer was so excited!

Sage was bummed at first that it wasn't her name that was drawn, but I reminded her that we are lucky because we get to have Clifford TWICE in our home because he will eventually come home with her, and that no other student in their class gets that privilege. That cheered her up really quickly.

Friday night after we got to Medford and checked into our hotel, we left for a Japanese restaurant called Oh's Osaka where you sit at a grill and watch your chef cook your food with many fire tricks along the way. Danny and I had been there before, but we wanted our children to have the fun experience of a dinner out like that.

After dinner was some shopping at Target, then to the hotel to get the kids tucked into bed since it was already late.

The next morning, we woke up bright and early so that Danny and I could attend the temple. Because my parents were there also, they stayed with our children so Danny and I could go. Going to the temple is always like experiencing a slice of heaven, and is so uplifting. That was the main purpose for our trip to Medford.

After our morning at the temple, we headed to Red Robin for lunch. The rest of the day was filled with a quick trip through the mall, buying groceries from Costco, and a two hour long car ride home.

It was so nice to spend time with the family and have fun together, creating memories. And it was especially fun for Sawyer to be able to bring Clifford along with us for the adventure. I love these Kindergarten traditions!
